Middle East holidays take the industry by storm

Amadeus vice president Antoine Medawar commented that with the Middle East connecting more major global destinations via a single flight than any other hub' that the region would be poised to take an even greater competitive leap forward enabling it to lead the next wave of globalisation'.

Indeed, a quite staggering $4tn has been announced in travel and tourism projects with $86bn reserved for airport development and $7bn reserved for luxury hotel projects.

There's no real let up then across any fragment of the Middle East. Take the investment in Abu Dhabi's infrastructure as a prime example. Here, the impending opening of the Guggenheim Museum and Le Louvre in the next three years will complement the recently opened Ferrari World Theme Park.

The lure of a Dubai holiday remains as strong as ever with tourists eager to discover some of the finest hotels in the world in distinct areas like Jumeriah Beach, The Palm and Dubai Marina. Dubai is home to the iconic Burj al Arab as well as key favourites like the Madinat Jumeirah and One&Only resorts which are regularly graced by stars of the stage, screen and sports pitch!

But the Middle East is not just about Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with Qatar now firmly on the map after their successful bid to stage the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Nine new stadiums will be built to host the games which will take place in searing July temperatures sure to challenge even the fittest of footballers.

And then there's the smaller emirates. Ras al Khaimah features hot springs at Khatt, the sensational new Ice Land water theme park and the glorious Banyan Tree Al Wadi luxury hotel. Many of the other emirates like Ajman, Fujairah and Al Ain can be visited too in close proximity of the larger emirates and feature a cultural appeal of unique quality.
