The Joys of Breastfeeding!

The Joys of Breastfeeding!

If you are lucky enough to have a loving family member or nurse by your side, they can help you with your uneasy situations. With our first child, my husband and my mom managed to find last minute breastfeeding clothes and supplies to negotiate feeding times with less awkwardness. Lightweight blankets, burping clothes, wet wipes, and an extra set of baby clothes make breastfeeding easier. If you are concerned about fully exposing your breasts in front of others, a blanket or burping cloth can be thrown over your shoulder and across your breast area. The first time you try this, you may worry your baby might not be able to breath or may get too hot, but let's just say my voracious little barracuda was never phased by it.

After leaving the hospital and feeling human again, you'll inevitably make that first shopping trip into town for much needed supplies. Besides the fact you have to find every changing table in town, your baby becomes exceedingly hungry, and you chose to wear your comfiest set of sweats. There are no zippers and no easy access, and you wish you had breastfeeding clothing that are comfortable and fashionable. That day, you may sit in the bathroom every time you feed to keep from having your shirt by your ears while pushing your cart.

With a little forethought, breastfeeding clothes can be found anywhere. Clothes that open in the front or have a low cut front make accessing the breast a little easier without having to be an exhibitionist. Zippers and buttons make opening and rearranging your clothing quick and easy. A fashionable alternative are v-necks and scoop necks. Either selection and a small blanket can turn public feeding uh-oh's into more time to comfortably peruse your favorite fashion house.
