Christmas at the Korean Theme Parks!

Christmas at the Korean Theme Parks!

Christmas, one of the world's most celebrated holidays, is just around the corner. As the year draws to an end and the weather starts getting colder, Christmas season is once again upon us. The streets are lined with buildings and trees covered in an array of sparkling lights and extravagant decorations. Department stores further add to the seasonal mix with their intricate displays lighting up the cold winter sky.

During the few short weeks before Christmas, one of the best ways to catch a preview of Korea's festive holiday spirit is with a trip to one of Korea's three major theme parks: Everland, Lotte World, or Seoul Land. These amusement parks have been gearing themselves up for Christmas festivities ever since early November and have come up with an array of glittering decorations and special Christmas events sure to delight visitors of all ages.

Lotte World "Christmas Festival"

Nov. 5th (Fri) ~ Dec. 26th (Sun)

Lotte World, located in Jamsil, Seoul, will be having a Christmas Festival until December 26th. The Christmas spirit fills the air with millions of lights decorating every corner of the theme park, and huge Christmas trees displayed in and around the park.

During the festival season, a variety of Christmas performances and events will be held each day. Among them is the spectacular, must-see "Happy Christmas Parade" featuring 15 super-sized parade cars and around 100 actors and actresses playing characters in Santa's Village. At night, the parade takes on an even more magical feel as the fun of the parade is combined with the vibrant colors of a special holiday fireworks show. The park even employs a snow machine to give the park its frosty white Christmas sheen.

Special events for this year's holiday season include the Bang Bang Band Carol Party (a rock & roll party with cute, fuzzy characters), the Ice Rink Band Show (featuring a 40-person "Sexy Santa Band"), and the Wish Tree (for writing and sharing your Christmas wishes).

Everland "Christmas Fantasy Festival"

Nov. 5th (Fri) ~ Dec. 26th (Sun)

In celebration of Everland's Christmas Fantasy Festival, Christmas trees will be installed throughout the theme park and illuminated with hundreds of thousands of lights. During the festival period, the Christmas Avenue, which runs about 500 meters up from the main entrance, will be the venue of the Bling Bling Light Show, a fabulous display of lights and artificial snow that has been dubbed the highlight of the festival!

Come and take part in the Santa Penguin Parade, the icon of Everland Festival, or gorge yourself at the Oriental Restaurant's savory Christmas buffet. After night falls, be sure to check out the giant Christmas tree-lighting ceremony, complete with multimedia and firework shows.

Seoul Land "Winter Festival"

Nov. 13th (Sat) ~ March 1st (Tue)

Seoul Land's Winter Festival invites visitors into the fascinating world of Christmas. The area from the Jeongdongmun area to the Red Windmill Heart Theme Zone will be decorated with snow flowers and fairytale Christmas characters. Just past the main gate, which is newly decorated for a warm winter feel, visitors are greeted by six large Christmas trees and a group of Santas and other Christmas characters ready to pose for pictures.

Experience the daily life of Santa Claus at the Santa Village (Santa's home, Santa playground, and photo zone) or participate in any one of the special events (Santa Toy Parade, Santa Karaoke, Christmas Turmoil, and more) for a Christmastime experience you'll never forget!
