Questions About The Tropical North Queensland

Tropical North Queensland is where? The Eastern Australian region contains TNQ which has two World Heritage sites, the wet tropics and the Great Barrier Reef. The divers have a field day on the huge area of the Great Barrier Reef where there is much to see and explore. The peaceful space of the wet tropics is a fabulous natural home for all the wonderful unusual animals and creatures here.

Weather issues there? It has an unbelievable year round temperate weather pattern, 300 days with sunshine and average 70 degree temperatures. This makes for a fantastic place to be outside and enjoying all the things to do here.

How to get there? There are many ways to get from Cairns to the Tropical North region. You can fly and rent a car or take the railways to get there. Most hotels in the region offer shuttles and there are also buses and taxis to help you get round. And if you feel a little intimidated by this expansive region, not to worry as there are many guided tours that you can take that will help you experience the full beauty of your natural surroundings.

Places to visit? Going to the TNQ is a wonder all it's own but it does contain some things that are "must sees" on your trip. The history and culture of the area is offered up by Cooktown, Mareeba and Mission Beach so you'll want to visit these towns. Another thing is to spend a day in Cairns, which as one of the largest cities in this area offers up fantastic dining and shopping.

Island visits? Try to visit the islands, the most popular are located right off the coast, Green Island is one of the more popular for a daytrip. But there are also Fitzroy Island and Dunk Island, all of these locations are very hospitable for visitors.
