Tired Of Looking More And More Like Santa Each Year- Find Out How To Cut The Pounds This Holiday Season

Looking at the scale after the holiday season can be very degrading and depressing. You thought you were at a good weight and you try to watch what you eat during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but you always come out with some extra weight around your belly. Every Christmas you look more and more like Santa Claus than you do your old self. It is really hard to get through the holidays without adding on a few "jolly" pounds. With all the parties, full of cookies and cakes, it seems like there is no way to win. There are so many pitfalls when it comes to maintaining your weight, let alone losing weight.

You drink the eggnog, eat the apple pie and sugar cookies, all while grabbing for your sweat pants when you get out of bed because your other pants are too tight. Trying on all the clothes you get for Christmas can be a little deceiving when you can barely button them, but you know that's the right size. The holiday season can totally defeat a person when it comes to dieting.

Here are a few steps that can help when trying to maintain your weight through the holidays:

WORK OUT- Just because it is the holiday season, and a time to be jolly, doesn't mean its time to neglect your work out routines. In order to burn off the extra calories we will all be eating these couple of weeks we will actually need to work out a little bit harder. So If you walk for 30 min at a time ramp it up to 45 min, or if you work out 3 times a week maybe add and extra day of cardio. This will keep up from gaining the extra holiday weight.

PARTY TIME- There are a lot of parties during this time of year, and that is where we succumb to our sweet tooth. Throughout the year not many people have desert on a regular basis, so when we start going to all of the holiday parties we eat dinner as we normally would. Then, we see the pies and cookies; so we have to have a little taste of those as well. This is adding calories that we normally wouldn't eat.The best defense against this is to nevergo to a party hungry. Havea piece of fruit or some sort of healthy snack before attending a party.

CONTROL-You are in control of what you eat, but there are some things that are done without us even knowing we do them. An example of this is filling our plate. There is something inside our heads that says we must have a full plate. So, when you are getting food, grab a small plate to eat off of. You will start off eating less, and you aren't very likely to continuously get up for seconds, and thirds.

CHEAT- Like I said in the beginning of this post. It is not viable for you to not eat the fun foods that we only get to enjoy once a year. So when you do limit yourself to one treat a day. Either one cookie or a small slice of pie. Remember, the more you eat, the more you will have to make up for in your workouts.
