Children at Weddings and Functions

Having children at Weddings, Christmas Parties and Functions can be an organised and fun time for everyone involved. Planning ahead will give you peace of mind, and allow your adult guests with children a chance to relax and enjoy the function.

Count the number of children, and if possible have a table that will dedicated to children only for the evening. They will know they have their own place to play and socialise, and will mean less time running back to mum and dad.

Cover the table with paper cloth instead of material, and provide different colouring pencils. Children are great at entertaining themselves, especially if there are several children. This is a priceless during speeches or later on in the evening.

If you function has catering provided or a mobile caterer onsite, count the number of children that will be attending and their ages. Generally children will be priced accordingly, and plastic plates provided for very young children. This will avoid any breakages or accidents during dinner service. Children enjoy the simple foods, including breads, meats and fruits. Buffet lunches and dinners are great for children, as they can decide at the moment what they feel like and enjoy eating.

Have suitable drinks available for children on the evening. If you are having a children's table, you may like to place a drink cooler at the end so they can easily see water, cordial or soft drinks are available when they are thirsty. Most times they will help themselves, especially later in the evening.

Bonbonniereis a great idea for children also. This can be placed on the table, including little biscuits, lollies, chocolatesor fruit.

A quiet zone is a great idea for weddings, so when children tire adults don't feel theyhave torush home. This can be as simple as a dedicated TV/Movie area.

Enjoy children at your functions, and they will remember these for their lifetime.
