Christmas, Kids and Behavior Problems - A Lethal Recipie

As parents we are tired after a long year of work the extra pressure of all the additional school and work functions that we, and our kids are either involved in or have to attend. Then there is the financial burden of presents, extra food and where the dinner should be.

The kids are tired after a long year at school. And of course there is the anticipation of the presents the hope of getting what they want. This is made worse by constant advertising of cool must have things that is in there face more and more leading up to Christmas.

Personally I think that we, as families need to get away from the hype that surrounds Christmas, talk to each other and decide what everyone hopes, expects and would like from Christmas.

This is my personal tip on how it can be achieved. Everyone in the family taking time to think about what Christmas and what means to them, then write down what your dream Christmas would be like and how you can achieve it. This list can also include what your dream presents may be.

Everyone can then sit down and work together to plan a Christmas that the whole family can enjoy! After all isn't that what Christmas is meant to be about?

My personal number one rule is to not react to the kids and behavior that is undesirable. I know this is hard, stay clam take time to the redirect your kids behavior to something else, like making their Christmas wish list. Hopefully this will turn total chaos and stress into the happy family time that Christmas is meant to be.
