You would then keep using the strips to see how much your efforts are paying off or to determine which foods or douches are giving you the best results. The same process is true if you are trying for a girl baby, but you'll be trying to become more acidic instead.
People will sometimes combine the use of the strips with urine or saliva ovulation predictors as timing is another aspect of this process that you can control to give you the results that you want. Folks who want a boy baby will need to conceive later in their fertility cycle than folks who want a girl baby. This is where the ovulation predictors also become very important.
