The statistic of infertility may seem daunting, but they are in part a reflection of certain demographic realities in today's society. For one thing, they reflect the large numbers of baby boomers who delayed marriage and child bearing until a time when their reproductive ability is diminished. Widely available contraceptives have permitted them to schedule reproduction, and a trend toward marrying later in life, not to mention the increased incidence of second marriages-and the desire to start a second family-have contributed to the increase in demand for infertility care.

Age plays a very important role when it comes to infertility. This is because the older a person becomes the more chance they will have problems with infertility. This happens due to the hormone levels and egg count in women. If you are a woman of 35 or older and still want to have children you need to realize that your biological time clock is ticking and that the longer you wait the harder it is going to be to get pregnant. Men usually do not have problems with fertility until the age of 55.

Three Main Changes in Infertility:

1. Older woman becoming pregnant with donor eggs. 2. Men being able to father children even with a low sperm count. 3. Growth in the internet.
