Voluntary Work In Africa - So Many Opportunities!

What first comes to mind when voluntary work in Africa is mentioned? Wildlife perhaps? Africa has some of the most evocative animals in the world. Perhaps it's teaching? Or nursing? The fact is there are a remarkable number of African volunteering opportunities and anyone can take part. There's also the chance for excitement and adventure like nowhere else on earth!

Whatever your age (from eighteen upwards) and whatever your educational and working background, you can make an incredibly positive impact in Africa. There is always, of course, the need for teaching volunteers, and nurses, but if that's not you then don't for a moment think that your contribution will be any less valuable.

In the slums of Cape Town, South Africa, there are young children and orphans who struggle with HIV and AIDS. Definitely a job for qualified medical staff. But those medical staff need support and that could be you. Medical and community assistants come from all walks of life and give invaluable help. There are similar volunteer projects in Limuru, Kenya and Livingstone, Zambia.

Those same children need education, and their teachers need support. If that's something that appeals to you then again you don't need to have any particular qualifications. Your voluntary work in Africa could be as a teaching assistant, helping educate through play and dance. Or you might be making crafts. Or you could be outside, sports coaching.

What if those volunteer projects don't appeal but you still want to contribute? Well there's always a wall that needs painting, a fence that needs mending, something that needs planting or tending. The only important thing is a willingness to get involved. Volunteer placement staff will find plenty of ways to keep you busy!

In return you'll have a tremendous sense of satisfaction and achievement. You'll make a positive impact that is so great it's impossible to calculate. You will change peoples lives.

If that's not excitement and adventure enough, your time doing voluntary work in Africa needn't be all work and no play! Victoria Falls is one of the adrenalin capitals of the world so if you've got the energy, how about a bungee jump - or white-water rafting down the Zambezi? If that's a bit too strenuous what about an African safari? Want something even more relaxing? How about sampling the famous wines and equally famous golden beaches of the Cape?

You can radically improve the lives of some of the world's poorest people, and treat yourself to the holiday of a lifetime. If that sounds too good to be true then it sounds like voluntary work in Africa might be just your thing!
