Taking Care Of Spring Cleaning In The Easiest Way

It's always a great time of the year when flowers blooming, the birds singing, and the sun is shining. It means it is spring time, which means picnics, playing outside, and unfortunately it also means spring cleaning.

Spring cleaning is not something we look forward to, but one that is needed and helps create a better and happier home life for you and your family.

Some homes will be easier to clean than others, but every home should go through this yearly deep cleaning process. Spring cleaning gives you the chance to deep clean things that are neglected all year.

When it comes to deep cleaning your home, it is best to make a plan upfront. Dividing up the house is a good idea. By splitting up the house into sections you can tackle one mini project at a time making spring cleaning seem like a less daunting task.

Tackling room by room is the best option that will give you the best results. Make a checklist for each room of the things that need to be done. Each room will be different but remember to not skip or neglect cleaning every part of that room.

You need to remember certain cleaning tips while going about your spring cleaning. Washing walls and the ceiling may seem tedious but is a good idea. Use a vacuum to remove the dust and cobwebs that have collected over the year. Then take care of any surface grime with a solvent-free degreaser.

When it comes to vacuuming and shampooing your carpets and rugs you need to make sure to do a thorough job. Synthetic carpets and rugs need to be shampooed deep with waterproof backings. If you have rugs without backing such as Oriental rugs, you need to get them professional cleaned.

Book shelves collect dust each day. Make sure you clean all shelf surfaces, taking off all objects on the shelf and dusting the entire shelf. Use a feather duster when dusting. It is also important to dust the objects that you put on the shelf. You can use a feather duster for these as well except when wiping the spines of leather-bound books. Use a clean soft cloth for such items.

Often times upholstered furnishings get forgotten about when it comes to deep cleaning. Furniture gets a lot of wear and tear and abuse from so much use. It's important to take the cushions outside and gently beat them by hand removing the dust. Then take a vacuum and give it a good cleaning that way as well.

Polishing will add a nice touch to your spring cleaning. Make sure you polish metal door as well as window hardware. Liquid polishes and polish-impregnated cloths work well for medium-tarnished surfaces, pastes and creams are for heavier work. If tarnish doesn't come off then simply try a stronger product.

Drapes and curtains gather dust and get touched often by oily hands. Many are machine washable, and should be washed at this time. If they are not, you can get them dry-cleaned. For blinds, take a clothe dampening it with warm water mixed with a mild dishwashing liquid.

Washing window screens is important to. These get very dirty as they are exposed to the elements as well as insects and birds. Take them out and using warm water and a mild dishwashing liquid, scrub each screen with a brush, then rinse it thoroughly. Using a hose for this works great.

Although it may not seem like a cleaning task, spring cleaning is a perfect time to change your batteries in smoke detectors. You can dust in that area while you are there. You need to remember though, that this should be done twice a year, and not just at spring cleaning time.

Window washing is one of the most important as well as one of the least desired things to do. A list of how to properly wash windows will follow:

When washing windows, pick a time when the sun is not shining directly on the windows. If it is, it will dry the cleaning solutions and you will get streaks.

Before applying any solutions to your window, wipe off all dust, cobwebs and lose dirt including in the tracks and sills.

After this, apply cleaning solution and wipe windows down with a cloth. After doing so, dry the window right away to prevent streaks.
