A Personal Experience at a Christian Treatment Center

The Christianrehab programsexperience is one that is unforgettable. When a miracle takes place right before your very eyes, it is something that is to be heavily noted and respected. Only God can work wonders such as delivering a drug addict or alcoholic from the hands of evil. Only God alone can deliver a person who is being plagued with gambling addiction, sex addiction, eating disorder and dual diagnosis.

The family becomes frustrated when they are unable to do this in their own strength. The addict, too, is very frustrated when they choose to rely on their strength to see success in treatment. In Christian treatment centers, the addict learns that he or she does not have to endure the process alone. The strength that God provides is enough to take them through and give them new hope to live a normal life free of drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex and dual diagnosis.

Courtney did not like her stepfather when she was growing up and even when she reached her adult years, his behavior became so unbearable. He beat her mother all the time when he was in his drunken stupor. Several times, he was caught driving drunk and got a DUI from law enforcement with his driver's license revoked. He once hit someone off their bicycle and the person did sustain injuries and had to go to the hospital. Thank God that the person lived. However, despite all of that, Courtney's stepfather continued to drink and drive while intoxicated.

Courtney told her mother that if something was not done soon enough, that her husband would end up either in jail or in the cemetery. Her mother was afraid to do anything for fear that he would again beat her up. Courtney could not understand why her mother stayed with him, but later on after participating in rehab therapy with the family at one of the Christian treatment facilities, Courtney learned that her mother was like any domestic violence victim. She feared that if she ran, he would find her and harm her. She also thought that he would do harm to Courtney as well or try to find her through Courtney.

Her stepfather was a belligerent man so the only way to get him help was to do an intervention. Of course, Courtney's mother did not want to be a part of it, but for the sake of her mother, Courtney took the initiative. She did not know how to forgive her stepfather for all the hurt that he had caused until she had to go through the therapy process. She learned that her stepfather was also physically abused by his stepfather when he was young. This is the only way that he knew how to run his household. He thought that this was normal and did not know any differently.

The significance of someone's past and their present situation is so connected and people who tend to judge alcoholics and drug addicts need to know this. When you see someone displaying such destructive behavior, there must be an underlying issue that needs to be addressed.
