Great Airplane Ticket Prices-explore Alternate Airport Options For Big Savings!

Just accepting the first available airplane ticket prices at the airport nearest to you can be a big mistake! Learn how to save a bundle by exploring fares from alternate airports near you.

For the purposes of this article we are going to book a hypothetical economy/coach flight from Cincinnati, Ohio to Las Vegas, Nevada, for 2 people on Delta Airlines. We will leave on a Monday & come back on a Friday. From here on the article will focus on ways to lower the cost of our airplane ticket prices for this flight. All research will be done on Priceline.com, but you could just as easily use one of the other online sites.

It is important for you to understand that a flight booked out of a major International Airport will cost a lot more than one out of a smaller airport. By flying out of a smaller airport, you can often save a significant amount of money off your airplane ticket prices. Also keep in mind that a first class flight that is four hours or less long is a waste of money. Save that money for something else & book coach/economy tickets

Booking the flight to depart from Cincinnati Monday November 24th 2009 & return November 27th, 2009 gives us a low price of $308 per person. This same flight out of Indianapolis costs only $228. Out of Columbus Ohio it is only $218, And out of Dayton Ohio it is only $188! That means you can save up to $120 a ticket just by traveling out of a different airport!

That kind of savings is worth the extra gas money to get to the other airport, especially in this case, where Dayton, the airport with the lowest priced ticket is only about an hour away!

Experiment with planning ahead to see how that would affect your airplane ticket prices, as this can save money as well. It is not unusual to find significant savings in this manner and it should work around your city as well.

Not only will this save you money on your airplane ticket prices, but it will often reveal significant savings on package deals that include a car rental or hotel stay in the price.

So do a little homework on the online ticket sites before you purchase the tickets for your next flight. Just picking your flight out of the nearest airport like everyone else will probably result in you paying higher airplane ticket prices than you need to.
