What are veneer types?
Porcelain veneers are of two types, namely, traditional veneers and lumineers. The lumineers are more recent in cosmetic dentistry applications. Though both types of veneers serve the same purpose, the difference lies in the thickness (or thinness) of the porcelain shell. Lumineers are thinner than traditional veneers. How do I choose a veneer color?

How is the porcelain attached to the teeth?
The porcelain shell is attached to the teeth with a dental resin. The resin/bonding cement can be strong enough to sustain the veneer for 20 years or more. The placement methods of veneers and lumineers are slightly different. However, in both cases, taking a dental mold is the preliminary step to prepare the veneers. If necessary, the teeth will be prepped for the veneer placement by buffing away the top layer of enamel. Temporary veneers may be placed at this point. When the permanent set of veneers is ready, you will return to the dentist's office to have them placed.
