subject: Top 5 Tourist Attractions In York Uk [print this page]

York, UK is a very attractive destination for tourists due to the number of attractions that exist there for entertainment and fun.

The first worth noting is Flamingo Land. It is a theme park, zoo, and holiday village all in one located on an area that is over 375 acres. This is something all visitors should definitely make a stop at considering it contains many daytime shows, sessions to handle and see different animals, the opportunity to visit the zoo safari, and loads of rides that cover both the gentle and wild spectrums. It is open from March 20th until October 31st every single day for your enjoyment with hours varying depending on the time during the season visited.

For the train enthusiasts, the York Model Railroad is the hot spot to spend some much needed enjoyment. It is located close to the railway station and has a show which entertains both children and adults as well. There are 323 meters of track on the display which is contained in four different ovals. There is also a gift shop attached so that you can bring some of your trip home with you.

The York Dungeon is one of the scariest attractions in the entire city. Their newest attraction premiering is titled Witches: Burned Alive and uses both smoke and fire effects to stun the public with a gruesome witch burning directly to her bones in front of the guests. Other shows include the Vikings and the Ghosts of York as well. The entire location serves to show the most gruesome parts of history with the live actors and special effects to re-enact the events so many of us were not alive to experience.

For those who want to go back to the times of Vikings the Jorvik Viking Centre is quite the hit to spend some time. Over 15 million individuals have visited the streets which make it feel as if the year is only 975. The Centre bases all of its attraction on the Coppergate excavations which were done from the years 1979-1981 and revealed archaeological evidence of the famous Vikings. The digging originally was on the grounds of a sweet factory but they found Viking buildings that had been preserved along with artifacts including leather, cloth, wood, and a toilet. Over 40,000 objects were found in the 36,000 layers that were removed. Its something that should not be passed over.

Fans of beer will enjoy spending some time at the York Brewery where beer is made using old and traditional methods. Tours are conducted throughout the brewery which allow tourists to get a clear view of the entertaining process by a knowledgeable guide who is familiar with the building itself and the processes that occur within its walls. Included in the tour is a pint of sample beer for tourists to enjoy. Afterwards the Brewery Tap Bar is the place to relax with the full range of different beers being available to purchase while you kick back and relax.
