Second hand tobacco smoke is deadly. It can cause disease and illness. Children that are exposed to their parent's tobacco smoke are much more prone to things like asthma, bronchitis, sore throats and sinus conditions. These are just the facts and when a parent knows these things and ignores them anyway, some people think it should be a crime. There is an easy answer to this. Parents could just simply refrain from smoking near their children. It is easy enough to go outside when they want to smoke. It is a small price to pay for the safety of your child's health. There are also parents that have switched to using a electronic cigarette because they believe that it is a better choice than smoking tobacco. Quitting smoking completely is a tough thing to do and it is understandable that some people, even parents, are not always able to quit easily. Many researchers do believe that using an e cigarette instead of smoking tobacco is much better, but that does not mean that it is any better to use an e cigarette around kids than smoke tobacco. The reason for this is not necessarily because of the health issue, although there are no definitive conclusions as to the secondhand smoke issue as of yet concerning the e cigarette, even though some researchers also think it to be much safer for bystanders than tobacco smoke too. But, what about just using the e cigarette in front of them?
A smart parent should know that even though they might have made a better choice for themselves by using an e cigarette, they still should also know that it is not a good idea to use any kind of addictive substance such as nicotine in front of their kids. So, the electronic cigarette is an adult product meant for adults, not children. Children should not observe parents using an e cigarette or smoking tobacco. You never want to encourage your kids to use anything that is addictive. Many parents drink alcohol in front of their kids and never think much about that either, but perhaps this is one reason there is such a problem these days with teen alcoholism in this country and others.
