Wedding Insurance - Could You Handle The Blindfold Challenge?

Wedding insurance is one of those things you hope so much that you don't need that it can sometimes almost feel a little like tempting fate to even take out an insurance policy for your wedding.

It's almost like walking a tightrope and having a huge safety net underneath you the implication being that you expect to fall. Without that net, aren't you more likely to be more careful, and therefore less likely to fall?

It's this sort of logic which has resulted in more money being lost each year in the UK than an Icelandic bank investor on a bad day. The reason this logic is woolly is that whereas a tightrope walker is more or less responsible for all factors which could affect his or her success, a wedding relies on other people far more than it does the one organising it.

Imagine planning to do a tightrope walk, and getting one person to organise the rope, one to organise it being tied to one end, someone else to tie the other end, and planning the whole thing a year in advance. Would you be prepared to step out along where the rope should be, blindfolded?

Perhaps one of them forgot, or was held up, perhaps they had the wrong location, or perhaps the weather was so bad they were flooded in, or couldn't tie the rope because of the hurricane blowing through the area. There are so many factors beyond your control that you'd be a fool for not having a safety net in place, because there's a very real probability something will go wrong. It won't be your fault, but you'll be the one to pay the price.

Wedding insurance covers a huge number of areas, and in fact just looking in to the idea of getting a quote can be enormously eye opening. For instance, did you know that every year thousands of couples have to fall back on their wedding insurance policy for liability cover, because of damage caused by their guests?

From damaged carpets and furniture to stained clothing, and from the scratch all the way down the limousine caused by a careless wedding guest to the small matter of the fire caused due to the combination of candles and paper streamers, liability insurance can be essential.

Then there's the problem of illness. Do you believe you can pick a day, any day, around a year from now and guarantee 100% that you'll be completely well, and won't be suffering from some horrible lurgy that sees you bent double in the bathroom? Or that none of your wedding party will either?

What about the weather? Even the Met Office with their multi million pound supercomputers and a raft of satellites whirling round the planet can't seem to get it right even half the time so how much success is anyone else likely to have banking on a particular day being fit for a dog? Hurricanes, floods and even tornadoes are now more common than ever, and at any time of the year.

Step out blindfolded if you want to, but if you'd like to stand a better chance of survival, wedding insurance is quite a good idea.
