Tegan And Sara Tickets - Tegan And Sara Touring In Support Of 'sainthood'

Canadian indie-pop/rock duo Tegan and Sara are currently across the Atlantic touring in support of their sixth studio album Sainthood, which arrived via Vapor/Sire Records on Oct. 27, but will be making their way back to North America for some live dates in 2010. The twins, 29, will finish out the month with shows in the U.K., France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Belgium before returning to their native Canada to play one final date in 2009, at Victoria, British Columbia's Save On Memorial Center on Dec. 21. Tegan and Sara have dates scheduled around Canada and the States through April 2010, so check online for Tegan and Sara tickets.

Six albums deep into their 10-year career, Tegan and Sara co-wrote the songs on Sainthood together for the first time, as they had previously penned tracks individually. The sisters began writing lyrics jointly while on a trip to New Orleans during the fall of 2008 and revealed to Billboard that the concept for the album, which is packed with tracks dripping with emotional yearning and devotion, was inspired by a Leonard Cohen song.

The infectious lead single off Sainthood is "Hell," and one-half of the duo, Sara Quin, told Billboard online that they didn't shy away from making radio hits as much as in the past, as evidenced by the track's anthemic refrain. "It's less of a goal to get on radio and more of a goal to not resist radio as much as we have in the past," explained Sara, before continuing to say, "We've had a really comfortable arc in our career, but at this point we recognize there is a fan base we have yet to entice. With this album, I know we have a shot at it." "Hell" made its iTunes debut on Oct. 6.

Tegan and Sara entered the studio with Howard Redekopp and Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla to record Sainthood in May. Right off the bat, Walla advised the sisters to shake things up a bit by playing with a full band in the studio instead of overdubbing after the fact. Although the idea initially scared the sisters, Quin told Billboard online that the end product was worth it, saying, "The songs just sounded more fleshed-out...and I think they'll be stronger, especially live." If concert reviews are any indication, she was right!

Tegan and Sara also issued a trio of self-published books-On, In and At-in conjunction with the release of Sainthood. The idea for the three-book set, which follows the twins' past year through photographs and stories, was Tegan's, with the goal being to "make something that fans could hold in their hands-not something to re-create on their computer screens." Something else fans will want to "hold in their hands" are tickets to see Tegan and Sara live, as the duo's current tour is their biggest yet. Quin even joked to Billboard, "We've become a really good live band, and I say that in the most humble way possible."
