Stepan Sarpaneva, an outstanding independent watchmaker from Finland, presented his new Sarpaneva Korona K0-a dive watch at Baselworld 2010. While it is very rare to see dive watch from an independent watchmaker, the dive watch is truly great.

Crafted from titanium, the watch has a large case at 46mm.It wears quite nice and comfortable on the wrist, like most Sarpaneva watches. In addition to the ergonomic design, the thickness at just 10mm also contributes the watch comfort.

The attractive dial, featuring an internal dive ring, is black diamond coated and typically skeletonized. The first 15 minutes and the Arabic numerals on the dive ring is highlighted though blue diamond coating, while the other positions are meticulously sandblasted. The time-telling function is executed by small rhodium-plated hands and round markers. The rich luminous application ensures that the watch is highly legible all the day round and in deep waters. Covering the dial is a 1.5mm thick sapphire crystal that has been applied with a few layers of anti-reflection coating at the internal side. And the inside of the sapphire crystal is also printed with the logo of Sarpaneva.

The Sarpaneva Korona K0 has a unique feature that makes it stand out from ordinary dive watches. It uses a special mechanism to control the internal dive ring. Actually, the ring is part of the movement- Sarpaneva has boldly modified the movement's mainplate to include the ring, making it is possible to operate the ring and adjust the time just through the crown. This innovative design also avoids the accidental operation of the diver ring in the water.

Inside the watch is the reliable Soprod A10 which is also applied in other Korona watches. With nice black nickel plating and fine perlage finish, this movement boasts a frequency of 28,800vph and a 42-hour power reserve.

The Sarpaneva Korona K0 Dive Watch is expected to hit stores in 2011.
