Skin Rashes in Children

A skin rash does not have an exact meaning in medicinal or general language. It can be described as a bump on the body that changes the look and feel of the skin in a particular area. Rashes can be either confined to a specific area or widespread. Rashes point to different kinds of skin types and conditions and a few of them can be described as:

Some doctors recommend leaving it alone but I prefer to treat it early because I have seen many cases whereby the crust becomes so thick that whenever it is rubbed, large chunks of hair comes off leaving a very red and raw looking area.

Treatment is to apply a liberal amount of baby oil to the affected area about 20 minutes before the baby's bath. This will allow the crust to become soft and easy to remove. During the bath, apply a little baby shampoo to the head and using a soft hair brush or face cloth, gently brush or rub the crust off. Do this once a day until the crust has been completely removed.

Try to limit skin itching. Chicken pox is a common skin rash that effects children. Scabies is caused by a mite that can not survive long without a human host. Scabies is an extremely itchy skin rash and is also contagious as the mites reproduce and can move to another human host with close contact.

Nonetheless, three million kids in the US are said to have food allergies. In other studies, the biggest offenders are dairy , peanut-based products and eggs. Peanut allergies can also cause severe reaction called anaphylaxis.

Contact dermatitis is an often-misused term which refers to a rash brought on by contact with a specific material which cause allergy on the skin. Common examples are poison ivy and reactions to costume jewelry containing nickel. Contact dermatitis affects just those parts of the skin touched by whatever material causes the allergy.

Atopic is a health term that is employed to identify people who have other allergic reactions to certain allergens. Only atopic eczema is not simply counted to be an allergic reply. People who hurt from this skin condition will most likely acquire hay fever and asthma.

Red patches are seen in gums, tongue, mouth and even the throat. It then turns into blisters and can also form lesions. The rashes are also found to appear in legs, hands, toes and fingers. The disease is quite contagious and can spread easily by direct contact.

Wearing cotton clothes, cotton is a very soft, light and smooth material. Studies proved that cotton can ease itchiness by 20%. The reason behind this is the molecules of cotton; they are build in such way that will give you instantaneous relief from Eczema.

Cosmetic products and perfumes contain chemical substances obtained from resins. Even some of the lotions used in first aid may contain Neomycin sulfate. The same compound is used in certain cosmetic products too. But, the ill effects of the perfume on your skin can be avoided. Avoid using them directly on the skin wherever possible or switch to safer products which are derived from organic sources.

Seeing as eczema is considered a hereditary condition, should you or a member of the family endures eczema, your child will most likely too so the primary step in making an accurate diagnosis is a total medical history. Apart from this, your specialist will also want to inspect the rash to look for eczema warnings.
