How To Plan Your Small, Home-based Business Website?

I tell you, if you want to succeed as a home-based business owner then you have got to have a good website. Proper planning to build your website is essential to your success. Think of your website as your personal shop, warehouse or even office from where you conduct your business and want to ensure that it remains open and accessible to anyone throughout the world.

You and I both visit different websites. You must have, like I have, come across several websites that take a lot of time to load. Due to this reason, we get tired and start checking out other sites. So, when I close a site, the site owner loses a visitor or even a potential buyer. Had his site been faster, I would have definitely stayed and checked it out thoroughly.

When you create your website, you most certainly dont want your visitors to leave your site with some negative thoughts. When your visitors have a bad experience on your website, you ruin your image.

See, we are living in the 21st century where we want things to get done fast. We dont like waiting for anyone or anything. Thus, even if you work hard to create your website in an attractive and professional manner, but your visitors cannot access it and get the information they need, it will waste their time and they will leave with utter disappointment. At times, you dont have to completely change the site. Even with minor changes, you can witness more traffic and enjoy more sales and profits.

So, when you start planning that how your website should be, take into consideration the following tips to make your website a huge success.

User-Friendly Site Navigation:

Now folks, this is really important. You must make your website navigation as simple as possible. Allow your visitors to easily jump from one section to another. Do not make the layout complicated -or- links hard to find. If your visitors find it difficult to access the required information, they will not hesitate to leave your site.

Proper Content Formatting:

If your content looks all messy, people will simply run away. Make sure that you divide the information in short paragraphs. Long paragraphs are not easily readable and you certainly dont want to give hard time to visitors on your site. If you have written long paragraphs, make them shorter. Give your readers a chance to skim the entire text in just seconds. So, avoid long paragraphs.

Ensure Compatibility with Other Browsers:

People use all kinds of browsers. Make sure that your website looks perfect in the widely used browsers like Explorer, Firefox, etc. Once, one of my sites looked perfect in Firefox, but the heading looked completely messed up in Explorer, because of a tag I had added which was not compatible with Explorer. Such things result in decline in sales.

Use Fewer Graphic:

You need to realize that there are still a lot of people who use dial-up or slow speed connections. If you have a lot of pictures or graphics on your site, then your site will become heavy and it will take time to load. So, ensure that you dont use too many graphics.

Conclusion:

These tips look simple, and they are in fact simple, but they are extremely powerful and can turn an unsuccessful site into a very successful site.
