Weather Stripping And You

A couple of years ago, I bought a house that did not have ample Weather strip around its' garage door. Back then I thought it was not very important and I decided to leave it be. Big mistake, following heavy rainfall in my area I've witnessed my garage overflowing with unwanted moisture, and my garage roof needing repairs as a result.

I write this to inform anyone who does not have enough weather stripping around their property and is not in a hurry to install some that if you do not, it will cost you. Repairing a garage roof weakened by moisture over the years ended up costing a lot more to me then the pittance it would have cost to install weather strips around it when I first noticed the problem.

If you are not sure what Weather strip are, you should know that they are inexpensive pieces of water resistant and insulating material placed around doors, windows and garage doors in houses to keep out the elements and keep in heat. Surprisingly, a lot of garage doors might not have enough weather strips to protect the interior from moisture, especially in the fall and winter.

If you are unsure as to the status of your garage Weatherstripping, know that it could potentially save you thousands of dollars to check and insure your garage is properly insulated and moisture-free. In fact, weather stripping garage doors is among the few things you can do to dramatically improve the longevity and condition of your house a few years down the road, and it will cost you very little.
Weather Stripping And You

Weather stripping your garage door will cost you even less if you know where to find the cheapest weather strips, or if you can install them yourself. In the case of the former, you will often find the cheapest weather strips at your local home improvements warehouse, as well as in online stores dedicated to the same niche. Variety stores might carry weather strips as well, but in most cases they are more expensive there. Regarding the latter, or installing them yourself, fortunately it is a relatively simple process and in fact I managed to save some money by following simple step by step online guides on weather strip installation. However if you are still not sure how to install them yourself, you would be glad to know your local home improvement warehouse will often offer deals on installation with your purchase.

I am a home improvement hobbyist and have only recently discovered the importance of Weatherstripping garage doors
