Examined every aspect of our operation to identify measure and then reduce all inputs. This is across the board, Electricity and water readings are taken twice daily, 20% year on reductions. Menus redesigned to reduce food waste. Transport surveys commissioned to identify and thereby reduce vehicle movements to and from the venues, and on it goes. Our largest waste stream is food waste; all of this is now composted. Recycling routes established for all major and many minor outputs. No disposable items of any sort in any of the venues, near paperless office, all contracts, invoices, brochures and signage are electronic, etc.

Where are we going now: We are working to localise our supplier base. All inputs have been identified and categorised by value and volume. We are working to localise the major volume inputs, In particular to ensure that all our food ingredients are UK sourced. This in tandem with further incremental efficiency gains being made across the board, i.e. heat pumps installed at many venues, all suppliers now contracted to take all packaging away with them, supplier forums established to facilitate load sharing etc.
The future. Any suggestions gratefully received. We are investigating establishing a living wall and or bee hives at our Hallam Conference Centre
. Shifting all company vehicles from LPG to electric is another idea.
