When you are driving between Perth and Iverness on A9 Road, you will notice an unassuming detour for Atholl Road. Take this road and you will transported to main street in Pitlochry - Perth and Kinross, Scotland and become caught in the enchantment of this beautiful Victorian Burgh.

You will find over forty-one miles of tracks and paths that are joined together in circular routes covering 18-square miles and surrounding beautiful historical sites and countrysides.

The circular tracks are made to accommodate different levels of fitness and you want walk for hours across the scenic hills they encompass. If you want to enjoy a flying challenge climbing nearby Ben Vrackie will be a challenge and give you an astounding view of the entire valley once you are at the top.

Visiting in August, you will get to participate in the Pitlochry Autumn Festival and the Pitlochry Festival Theatre. During the festival the there are regular sound and light shows at the Enchanted Forest and activities each day. Music, theatre, and wonderful dancing at the local pubs will delight a visitor after a day of sight seeing and exploring.

There are over 20,000 visitors to Pitlochry during the months of May through October when the Pitlochry Festival Theatre provides ongoing theatre for visitors. They have their famous six plays in six nights program and daily events that bring the arts from all around the region to the wonderful centre. In addition, the National Scottish Ballet will delight you with their wonderful presentations of classic and modern ballet.

Getting to Blair Castle will be a wonderful adventure. Motor to Glen Tilt and take a short walk to the Castle or take the ferry to the Castle and enter the enchanted gardens and beauty of the first Castle in Scotland to be opened to visitors. Blair Castle has been occupied by the Atholl family for over 750 years and it is a stunning vision of historical artifacts that you will not find anywhere in the world. When visiting the Castle be sure to take time to ask about and explore the attic and hidden rooms.

The Hercules garden is as beautifully maintained as the Castle. You will wander the nine acres of enclosed garden and get to enjoy the award winning gardens, ponds, statues, and landscaping. There is so much to do and see while you are in Pitlochry - Perth and Kinross, Scotland that this article is not enough space to give you more than a taste of what awaits you. You must see Edradour, the smallest distillery in the world. And, the Blair Atholl Distillery, built in 1878 is a "must see".

On your way to the Power Dam and salmon ladder that has underwater viewing centres, be sure to stop at the Children's Amusement Park.
