Safe Riding Starts with Personal Protective Gear

Wearing the proper clothing while riding could mean the difference between a couple of scuffs or bruises and much more serious injuries in the case of an accident. Always wear a good motorcycle jacket, preferably made from leather. Leather will definitely provide the most abrasion protection, but you can also choose a jacket made from denim, nylon or other materials. Be sure to choose a jacket that has zippered vents, since these will allow for good ventilation and comfort, even during hot weather. A good pair of leather riding pants is also important. At a bare minimum, wear heavy denim jeans while riding. You should also make sure you have some rain gear packed at all times. When riding at night, always make sure you are wearing something reflective on your clothing or helmet to make it easier for others to see you on the road. A good pair of riding gloves and sturdy leather over-the-ankle riding boots will round out your personal safety gear. Now that you're properly suited up, enjoy the ride!
