Online Resume Cover Letter - Take The Generic Out Of Your Cover Letter

Online resume cover letters can be very helpful depending on which online cover letters you're using. I had been using a cover letter that I just picked out from random sites on the internet. Soon I found out why their there. They don't produce any results. You ever heard of "you get what you pay for?" Exactly what I was experiencing! Once I realized this it was one thing or the other, let me explain.

One, it was going to be me rewriting the online resume cover letters. By this I mean taking the online resume cover letter I picked and rewriting it in my own words. I though about this and how great an option it was. I also took into consideration that my own words, as good as they were, might not be enough for an HR personnel person to be impressed by them. I'm no expert writer and communicating words on paper takes all the feeling and expression we have when we communicate face to face with our body language, out of the equation.

My other option was going to be to use an online resume cover letter generator. Something that would use the correct language and use trigger words that I usually didn't use on my day to day communication with people. Let's face it we never use all the words available to us to communicate. That's why some with a slightly broader base of words usually sounds more educated. Not because their smarter, it's simply because they use more words to communicate. Giving the illusion of education through words most people don't often use. That's what I felt my online resume cover letter needed.

Being that I wasn't going to sit down and read a dictionary I opted for the second option to take the generic out of my online resume cover letter.

My new cover letter doesn't resemble my old generic online resume cover letter in any way and that's a good thing. I've seen improvement and the feed back I'm getting through call backs and interviews tells me I'm on the right track. Now let me be thorough with my explanation. It wasn't just the letter that is making this happen. I also mixed in other pointers to the letter to make it stand out and cause the reader to call me in for an interview. Getting more interviews was the beginning, now I just need to get the right job offer. I've been offered a position but I would have to move and I want to stay close to my family. Hopefully the next one will be local.
