Builders Perth- What To Do If You Spring A Leak

Plumbing Warranty

By the time you move into your new home all of your plumbing fixtures will have been checked by our qualified plumbers- however it is normal to experience a few minor plumbing issues. It is for this reason that you have a plumbing warranty- for blocked drains and dripping taps (3 months) and a warrany on all tap ware (12 months). Before calling your plumber check out below for the answers to some common plumbing queries:

The taps to my trough and bath drip for approximately 1 minute after they are turned off:

Nothing to worry about here, the water is simply draining from the outlet.

The spa is not working:

Check that the power is turned on. Check that the pump is in the metal box on the outside wall, if not then please call your plumber as they do not generally install your pump until you move into your new home. If the pump is installed then call your manufacturer for further instruction.

The water meter is leaking:

Please check which side of the meter is leaking- if it is on the house side of the meter where there is a brass bend going down into the ground then please contact your plumber. If the leak is on the water meter side of the brass bend then please contact the water corporation on 131375 as it is illegal for anyone to touch the water meter as it is property of the water corporation.

There is a leak in the roof:

If you have a zincalume or colorbond roof, contact the builder. If you have a tiled roof then please check if the leak is comnig through a cracked tile. If so then please contact the builder, if you do not have a cracked tile then please call your plumber.

The washing machine taps leak:

In this instance it is likely that you require new washers for the hoses; you can buy these from your local hardware store.

There is low water pressure to the basin or sink:

Unscrew the aerator at the end of the outlet and clean it out, these should be cleaned annually.

The water is luke warm:

Check the hot water system temperature control knob is set correctly, or check the blue top water tempering valve located at the hot water system or outside the bathroom is turned up to the maximum. If this is all correct then please contact the manufacturer.
