Break Out The Bucket Trucks For Small Town Summer Dcor Projects

Small towns certainly love their holidays. From Christmas to Valentines Day to Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Fourth of July, Harvest Festivals, County Fairs, Halloween, and Thanksgiving, just about every small town "dresses itself up."

City workers deck out Main Street in fancy duds. Boom trucks and Bucket trucks full of workers go out to hang garlands, lights and more to make the small town life a little more exciting, yet cozy. There's nothing like a small town holiday. So, from our small town to yours, here is a list of our favorite decorating ideas to keep your small town looking fantastic.

Christmas is the BEST holiday for decorating. Many small town parks are left under decorated or completely neglected. Try to raise funds in your town to make a miniature Times Square. Decorate a tall coniferous tree, and have the local school kids make one decoration each, with their pictures and names on them. This is a great way to get the whole town included and involved in the project. Let the parents of the children hop in the bucket trucks or boom trucks with the city workers and hang the decorations for an extra treat!

Valentines Day is another great time to paint the town red. Have the elderly folks in the nursing home pair up with little ones from the schools to make Valentine Cards. This is a great way to bring age groups together. Have the parents and high school students hang the cards up in local businesses.

Fourth of July is just a fabulous time of year. Kids are getting bored and restless in the dog days of summer. It's a welcome reprieve for kids. Have local kids clubs, scout troops and daycare centers get together to have a holiday BBQ and dance party before your town gets together for the annual fireworks show.

Halloween is a delicious holiday and growing in the dcor category. It is now the second most decorated holiday. There's nothing quite as cute as seeing parents and children, teachers and elderly get creative and fun with costumes on. Have a city wide safe zone for the smallest ones in town to trick or treat. Host a party in the community center with safe, fun games in a carnival style atmosphere. Don't forget to have a classroom decorating contest, or even a city wide decorating contest with prizes. The elderly love to drive around on handy buses looking at the decorations.
