Virtually Every Career Path Benefits From Online College!

One of the most common dilemmas a teenager faces when graduating high school is just around the corner is what does he or she want to do with the rest of their life. This is particularly troublesome for those who aren't academically inclined enough to go for a four year program, but don't want to be stocking shelves for the rest of their lives either. That's where vocational careers can come in quite handy.

One interesting vocational degree program is massage therapy. Individuals who enjoy interacting with people and who are fairly outgoing will probably be best suited to a massage therapy program. A natural affinity for individuals is key, as massage therapists interact with clients in a particularly intimate fashion in order to help them relieve stress and tension. If you need more information about online accredited universities, look on the internet.

Interestingly, most people think this is the type of profession that can only be taught at a brick-and-mortar school. As it turns out, there are a number of online schools that offer the courses as well. The virtual schools get around things by offering video, audio and perhaps even live interactions over Skype (a web-based platform). True, sooner or later one will have to practice on real people. Then again, try to find a person who won't enjoy a good back or foot message!

Massage therapy can also be a lucrative career choice. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the average hourly wage at $16.00 an hour. It can go up to $25. It's perfect for individuals right out of high school, and adult learners who wish to change careers. As more people become interested in alternative therapy and different methods of healing, massage therapy may become more popular.

Just how fast is the occupation growing? The Bureau states there are currently over 122,000 message therapists as of 2008. It projects a need for an additional 19% by 2018. This is nearly twice as fast as the average professional field (11%). While most masseurs are freelancers, the Bureau also states that about 40% of them find full time employment in hospitals, clinics, spas and other establishments.

Getting back to the concept of a getting an education in a vocational field, it should be noted this is something that can be mixed and matched into a more white-collar occupation. There are a number of psychologists who have learned message therapy as a way to enhance their practice. After all, it's a good way to relieve stress for a number of their patients. There is an abundance of information about online degree education on the web.

What this all leads to is there are a wide variety of vocations that can be profitable for those who don't want to go for a full four year educational program or someone who is looking for a creative way to expand beyond what they've already learned.
