subject: Lessons Kids (and Adults) Can Learn From World of Warcraft [print this page]

The environment is very well controlled and everything is well thought of. If parents were to play or watch their kids play World of Warcraft they would see that there are so many things to be learned from it. One thing a player would learn from WoW is to manage finances and the importance of work. Aside from all the fighting, players learn to do business online. Players get primary and secondary professions, which they use to make money. Players get raw materials, make special items from these and then sell them in the auction house. Players, young and old, would know how it is like to participate in a competitive market. Sellers would learn to adjust their prices depending on the market demand and median value. This is a great skill one can learn in WoW and use in real life. Another great thing players can learn from WoW is how to become a team player. This can be learned, in particular, when doing raids. For example, if you are a powerful DPS (damage-inflicting) warlock and your team needs you to level down your damage so as not to attract aggression, you would a adjust. A real player knows how to adjust for the betterment of his team. Letting your kids learn this skill would help create a better society.
