subject: Anxiety Treatment Without Medication Can Be Beneficial [print this page]

Every year there are more people being diagnosed with anxiety. There are quite a few types of anxiety with many different factors being the cause. In most cases medication treatment are being used for this kind of mental disorder. However, even though many will undergo this treatment there is some anxiety treatment without medication.

There were some natural treatments that were used over the years and with some fine results for anxiety disorder. It is known that around 20 % of the population suffers from anxiety. Not all of the symptoms are the same as there are several types of anxiety. Also this makes it harder to treat as one kind of therapy which could be good for a person will not be so good for another.

With most cases the treatment that was given to a sufferer was weekly talk therapy, which is a lot different than the psycho therapy that many people receive for their mental problems. The talk therapy works by letting the patient release their thoughts about themselves while the therapist will focus on the unconscious elements that could lead to the existence of the persons anxiety.

It is reported that this type of therapy only works for about 70% of these sufferers who go through this kind of treatment. Cognitive therapy, interpersonal and behavioral therapy are known to be used quite often for anxiety sufferers.

The treatment that seems to be used most often is the cognitive behavioral therapy, as this treatment is being done without the use of any medications. Many mental health professionals are recommending this to be the first choice in treating the anxiety disorder. In regard to psychological therapy, the treatment is showing positive results.

Also meditation is another way to help a person to relax the body and mind. This is helping many people with anxiety in their daily life. The exercises that go along with the meditation only takes about twenty to thirty minutes and are done each day. It is suggested to do this on an empty stomach or at least two or three hours after you eat a meal. Also meditating before sleeping is also suggested to the anxiety sufferer too.

Should your doctor diagnose you with any type of anxiety disorder than it would be suggested instead of relying on any medications to have a specialist referred to you by your doctor. And remember to always continue whatever treatment or advice your are told by the mental health practitioner.
