Read This Before Starting A Home Based Business

Over the past 15 years there has been a steady increase in professionals seeking to work from home. This has created a huge demand for work from home programs and with the advent of web marketing and e-commerce a market a window of opportunity was created for the work at home movement.

Many savvy web marketers made a fortune not just on the dot-com boom but also on the work at home craze. But just like the dot-com growth created an over saturation of e-commerce businesses and ensuing busting of the dot-com bubble in 2001, the over saturation from the work from home craze has called a bubble that seems to be busting as well.

The real winners in this booming industry have been the companies who produce the "Work From Home" programs. Many make claims that with little to no effort or time their program can create income sources to completely supplement a middle to upper-class income. Most programs have some element of truth with real success stories but upon further investigation potential clients will learn the success rates are extremely low. Most of these programs are based off of internet opportunities that if implemented 15 years ago could bring an individual a large amount of income in a short amount of time but today due to the over saturated nature of today's e-commerce world these opportunities are simply no longer available.

The unfortunate part of this work from home bubble that has been created is that many good quality people have become so jaded about the work from home movement that they will stay completely out. The truth is that there are still many opportunities available for those seeking to work from home if the goal isn't to get rich quick or work 2 hours per week.

Smith Monitoring Inc. is a great example of a midsized regional company that has been offering legitimate work from home opportunities. In 2008 they launched several work from home programs that currently include: customer service, accounting, sales and article marketing. There are many companies that are starting to see the advantages to using work from home subcontractor and due to tax benefits are willing to pay good money. For more information about Smiths programs you can contact them from their website www.smithmonitoring.com.
