World Travel And Tourism Council Predicts Tourism In Turkey Will Increase By 5% In Next 10 Years

Last year the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) predicted that Turkeys tourism would increase by 5% in the next 10 years. Here, the Worldwide Group, the company behind the global network of property websites, including House Sales Turkey (http://www.housesalesturkey.com/), looks at what this means for people wanting to buy or sell property in Turkey.

Around one million Britons take a holiday in Turkey every year, a figure that has increased steadily each year for the past decade. Registers show that approximately 73,000 Brits have purchased Turkish properties, mostly people who have experienced the beauty of the country already and know its appeal. This demonstrates just how linked tourism and property are. Some of the reasons cited for the WTTCs prediction that tourism would increase by 5% in 10 years include the fact that Turkey now has greater accessibility (with Easyjet adding routes to Bodrum and Dalaman in the last few years); a cheaper cost of living than in most countries in Europe; and beaches and a climate that rival any other European country.

While the prices of property in Turkey have slowed in the past few years (just like in the rest of Europe), the market is still buoyant, in part due to factors such as Turkeys strong tourism. Elsewhere in Europe tourism levels are dropping as property sales stagnate; this is simply not the case in Turkey, as the WTTCs prediction shows. This healthy and ever-increasing level of tourism is sure to bolster property sales in Turkey. Not only will a larger amount of people be exposed to the attractions that Turkey has to offer (encouraging them to buy a house in Turkey to enjoy the country for many holidays to come), but the booming tourism is also sure to send positive signals to property investors who will want to buy Turkish property with a view to profiting from this increased interest. All of which, of course, is good news for anyone that is selling property in Turkey.
