Paris' Greatest Museums

If you're heading on a trip to Paris, you're probably thinking about visiting at least one museum during your travels. However, there are so many excellent museums to choose from in this incredible city, it's hard to know where to spend your time. That's why it's a good idea to do your research beforehand so you can be sure exactly which museums are the best choice for you.

Number one on the list has got to be the Louvre. The Musee du Louvre is Paris' most famous museum and it's often said that you could spend not just all day in here, but all of the day after, too! Even the building that contains the museum's fascinating collection is something that will have you gaping with wonder, so it's definitely a good idea to add this amazing museum to the very top of your itinerary.

After the delights of the Louvre, you're probably wanting to have a break from the intensity of so much knowledge contained in such a small place. Of course, there's no better way to relieve yourself of one museum's impressiveness than heading to a completely different type of museum - in this case, the Musee du Vin. Translated, this is the Museum of Wine - something that is undoubtedly one of Paris' finer attractions. Edifying in many ways, the Musee du Vin takes you on a journey through France's winemaking industry and even offers tempting little extras such as wine tasting classes if you ever feel like learning how to talk like a true wine buff.

Paris is also home to plenty of other excellent options, such as the Musee d'Orsay, a mesmerising collection of incredible artwork that, like the Louvre, is housed in a just-as-incredible building, and the Musee de l'Histoire de France - which is the ideal stop for anybody wishing to find out more about France's fascinating, passion-filled history.

Picasso fans simply must visit the Picasso museum - though only walk through the doors of this enchanting building if you're a true fan of the great painter's artwork, otherwise you're likely to be bored out of your skull. If you want to see some other excellent artwork, however, the City Museum of Modern Art has more than enough of a selection to please anyone.

There's nothing like taking in a museum or two during those elusive Paris weekend breaks - so just make sure you plan your time well to make sure you can visit exactly the ones you want when you want to, ensuring the perfect getaway for singles, couples or families alike.
