Swim With Sharks In Australia

Australia is probably not the first place that comes into mind if you think about swimming with sharks. But actually Australia is a great place to swim and dive with sharks.

Australia is the place for everything from a simple one-day aquarium shark dive to a several-day live-aboard scuba shark diving expedition. It is also possible to try cage diving.

Does scuba diving among wobbygong sharks and grey nurse sharks sounds interesting? Then the South West Rocks is the place to go. The area is rarely affected by current and you can dive close to sheer walls that plunge to an average depth of 30 meters. No wonder why the dive site is voted among the ten best in Australia.

But if you want the largest thrill of them all, a great white shark dive, you do not have to go to South Africa. Australia is a superb place for this special kind of scuba diving.

If you want to try great white shark cage diving in Australia, one option is to go on a shark scuba diving expedition from Sydney. But the main departure point for great white shark cage dives is Port Lincoln and Adelaide in South Australia.

Both places are great departure points from live-aboard expeditions to great white shark diving spots. From either Adelaide or Port Lincoln you sail to the Southern Ocean around the Neptune Islands. And even though you are doing the trip to see the great white shark, you can also find a lot of other interesting animals like dolphins, fur seals and many bird species. Even the beautiful and rare Australian sea lion can be seen around the islands.

So if you are on vacation in Australia and you have never tried a cage dive among great white sharks, Australia is a great place to try it for the first time.

If you like to do a more easy and convenient shark dive, instead you can do an aquarium shark dive. In Australia there are several places like Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast, where you can swim with sharks in aquariums.

Non-certified divers normally start with an introduction to diving in a pool, while certified divers can head directly to the introduction to shark diving. After the introduction part, you are brought to the aquarium tanks, where the actual shark dive start. Often it will also be possible to feed the sharks, while you family and friend watch you from the outside.

So if the thought about great white shark diving scares you a little too much, an aquarium shark dive is a great way to feel the thrill that a close encounter with sharks gives.

No matter if want to try the ultimate shark dive with great white sharks or the more relaxing aquarium shark dive, Australia is a great place to do it.
