The Different Breast Procedures In Cosmetic Surgery

If you are dissatisfied with your breast size, augmentation surgery is a choice to consider. Breast augmentation can, increase fullness and projection of your breasts, improve the balance of your figure, enhance your self-image and self-confidence

Also known as augmentation mammaplasty, the procedure involves using implants to fulfill your desire for fuller breasts or to restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy.

Implants also may be used to reconstruct a breast after mastectomy or injury.

BREAST LIFT
The Different Breast Procedures In Cosmetic Surgery

A woman's breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness.

These changes and loss of skin elasticity can result from pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, aging, gravity, heredity

Also known as mastopexy, a breast lift raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour.

Sometimes the areola becomes enlarged over time, and a breast lift will reduce this as well. A breast lift can rejuvenate your figure with a breast profile that is youthful and uplifted.

BREAST REDUCTION

Overly large breasts can cause some women to have both health and emotional problems. In addition to self image issues, you may also experience physical pain and discomfort.

The weight of excess breast tissue can impair your ability to lead an active life. The emotional discomfort and self-consciousness often associated with having large pendulous breasts is as important an issue to many women as the physical discomfort and pain.

Also known as reduction mammaplasty, this procedure removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated with overly large breasts.

NIPPLE CORRECTION

Nipples come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Notably, they may be large, small, or even inverted. The size of a nipple is very subjective and larger nipples can be from large breasts, sagging breast, herniation of the breast tissue, or just what you were born with. Large nipples can easily be made smaller to match your breast size and body frame. This is usually best done at the time of breast lifting surgery or breast reduction surgery.

Inverted nipples on the other hand vary in severity. Usually scarring or contracted milk ducts are the cause and they can be graded as mild (nipples become inverted with cold or stimulation), moderate (nipples are inverted but can return to normal manually), and severe (nipples are inverted and will not return to normal). They can be treated on their own or at the time of breast surgery and will permanently improve the problem.

REVISION SURGERY

Breast surgery is usually straight forward. However, may problems can arise that may make your breast tissue or implants position themselves in unflattering or unintended ways. Treating these problems is often not as straight forward as your original operation and there are multiple techniques that may be utilized. Surgery is specific to your exact problem and there is no one solution. Usually, revision surgery takes longer and is more detailed than your original operation and you must speak frankly with your plastic surgeon about expectations and the treatment process.
