Trip To Kasauli-shimla

Kasauli is a beautiful destination between Shimla and Kalka, and is frequently called lesser Shimla. It is the initial hill station you observe as you move toward the Shimla hills on the toy train and is effortlessly renowned by its enormous TV tower. This fine-looking hill resort is an image of serenity, drenched in the charm of chir pines, firs, oaks and willows, and makes an ideal destination for the people who are looking for peace.

Even though it is not as big an appeal as Shimla, Kasauli had its residents of British tourists in summer. The Upper Mall where the finest of bungalows stood was out of the limits for Indians. The Kasauli Club did not allow Indians at all.

Flora & Fauna

Kasauli is actually a nature lovers delight. Wild growth full of flowers can spring up everywhere between April to June. The background, then, is full of wild roses, rhododendrons, coral tree, kachnar and kashmal.

Places of Interest

The Malls

The Upper and Lower Malls are the chief roads which run all along the length of Kasauli.

These are enclosed by chir pine, horse chestnuts, Himalayan oak and the odd juniper. The mall has several hotels and restaurants. The Malls are not as packed as in Shimla, and that is the reason the peace lovers are very comfortable in Kasuli.

Monkey Point

Monkey Point is another attraction and barely 4 km from the city and presents some outstanding views. It is the uppermost point in Kasauli and crowded with playful and naughty monkeys.

But its not called Monkey Point for this reason. Its given this name because of the steep cliffs which can only be climbed by monkeys.

On a very clear night, the illumination of Chandigarh is clearly seen from Monkey Point. Kasauli is slowly and gradually gaining popularity and becoming the proffered weekend haunt for party freaks that scatter all along the hill sides with cartons, damaged beer bottles, and cigarette butt.

Other Attractions

The nearby hills of Kasauli are an absolute feast for the eyes. Even at the climax of summer season, Kasauli is never crammed full. The only occasion to avoid, taking a trip to Kasauli is for the period of the first four days of October when it is full of proud parents attending the Founders Day at the close by Lawrence School in Sanawar.
