Retailers Fight Against Crime Using CCTV

Retailers suffer the constant threat of shop lifters on a daily basis. They also have to monitor there own staff who may be looking for an opportunity to steal from there boss or colleagues. Managers must be on guard and remain vigilant at all times otherwise they put the business and there own jobs at risk. One of the main security tools retail managers and owners are using is CCTV or Closed Circuit Television. It is called this because it is not a open broadcast and can only be monitored by those permitted to do so. Having security cameras on your premises are a vital tool to use in the fight against crime. If users suspect there may have been an incident that was unlawful then they can play back the CCTV footage to assistant whether there was an offence committed. Modern internet based systems or IP systems as they are also referred to allow the user to connect to there CCTV camera system over the internet. This allows them to monitor there premises from a separate location. This could be there home or another outlet if they are operating a multi-outlet business. Having this second pair of eyes can be the difference between catching criminals or leaving them free to operate right under there noses. If employees and customers are aware they are being monitored this can often be a significant deterrent particularly if they are aware the CCTV system is regularly reviewed. Courts up and down the UK are congratulating retailers who are able to prosecute criminals using the latest CCTV surveillance technology as once a criminal is court on CCTV they have little chance of denying the offence.
