Essential Oils For Children

Yay! Summer is finally upon us! Children are leaving their busy schedules and moving towards a fun-filled summer. While they may be leaving the structure of school they can still remain very busy during the summer time.

Essential oils are helpful for children during the summer. Children can benefit from the oils as much as adults can. Here are a few of our favorite oils that children really enjoy.

German Chamomile: Add a few drops of this oil to your child's night time bath. The oil promotes restful sleep. Be sure to start off small with the oil when adding it to the bath because too much might irritate children's skin.

Peppermint: This oil promotes good digestion. It can also be handy for children with headaches. Peppermint is meant to only be used on children older than 30 months.

Lavender: This is a favorite essential oil. Parents enjoy the oil's healing properties, and children enjoy the fabulous smell. Lavender can be used for the cuts, stings, and scrapes that children often get when playing outside in the summer time.

Eucalyptus: Colds happen all during the year. They can still happen during the summer, much to our dismay. Eucalyptus essential oil does wonders as a decongestant and immune stimulant.

Lemon: Lemon is not intended to be applied liberally or in a bath, but it does do great in diffusers. Lemon defends bodies against infections. It has a great smell, and when put in the diffuser works great as an air freshener.

Melaleuca oil: Melaleuca oil is an all-purpose natural essential oil. Melaleuca oil is the best choice for a first aid kit. It works great for cuts and scrapes, reducing pain, healing and disinfecting. Melaleuca oil can even be used to clean your home if you want. It may be a good idea for children with chores they need to do around the home.
