When you get tired of walking you can relax on one of Kefalonias many beaches something the island is famous for. At the foot of the mountain you will find the beach at Skala, one of the islands top resorts. This beach is over 2 miles long and is rarely crowded so if sunbathing is your thing Skala is perfect.
A short trip from Skala you will find turtle bay, this is a nesting ground for Loggerhead turtles and makes for a fascinating trip. The turtles are protected however you can watch from a distance as they lay their eggs on the beach not many other places offer such an experience making Kefalonia Holidays that little bit special.
Another great beach to visit in Kefalonia is Myrtos, recently voted the 5th most beautiful beach in the world. This is situated in the North of the island however it is well worth the trip as the beach is a wonder to behold. It is a strip of clean white sand with the most clear sea you can imagine all enclosed by a giant cliff face its a strikingly beautiful place to relax.
Relaxing and walking arent the only activities available on the island, with beaches as good as these you would expect swimming to be popular and you would not be disappointed. The clear blue seas make snorkelling a joy and there are plenty of fish to be found. Furthermore if you have a diving licence you can book a diving trip to one of the islands wrecks with a local firm great for the more adventurous.
If the beach isnt your thing you could enjoy a day of horse riding, a popular activity available in the resorts of Sami and Lourdata. Or if you want the full island experience why not hire a boat and tour the island, each village is very different and a boat will give you the chance to explore the coastline in detail.
