Top 7 ways for teenager's to earn money

I remember being below the working age and thinking of ways to get some money. At first I found it quite hard to get anything. After a while I discovered many ways and managed to make quite a few bucks. Anyway I've spent some time compiling this list of the top 10 ways to earn money before you can work!

7. Paper route This option is one of my least favourite, why? The problem with paper routes is everyone wants them. This means there can be a long waiting list to get the job. Paper Routes also depend on where you live. My local paper offered such a poor rate to deliver such a large amount of papers.

Babysitting This option seems to be the favourite among teenage girls, I think parents are slightly put off by the idea of a boy watching their children. Anyway so how do you go about getting babysitting jobs? Well there are many ways. The ones that I would recommend are asking your parents to speak to neighbours about it or make flyers and post them around your street (Don't post too many at first as you could end up rejecting a lot of customers, which can be terrible for business). If business is quite slow, even with all the flyers try asking current customers to say something about your babysitting service; you can then quote these testimonials on your flyers.Top 7 ways for teenager's to earn money

6. Car wash This method is great if you can get it going. The key to this one is good quality service. Try practising on your parent's car the first couple of times. It wouldn't hurt to invest in professional car cleaning products, especially as using traditional detergent can actually ruin a car's paint. My top tip: start by only doing the outside of car's, and make sure it's good quality as then your customer will trust that you are able to do a good job on the inside. To get people interested in your car cleaning service, post flyers through their doors.

5. Tutor someone It may be hard getting people to tutor, but if you get good results out of them, it becomes a lot easier as more and more people sign up to be tutored. The main problem with this one, is that you have to know what you're doing. I suggest offering a no charge introductory lesson to new students to see whether they feel you could be a good teacher to them.

4. Sell stuff This is one of my personal favourites, what's so great about it? Anyone can do it. However I should warn you that, there is a chance you can get in trouble for selling on school property, so I would recommend selling your stuff after school off the premises. There are many things to sell, my personal recommendations are items such as donuts, drinks cans and really anything that's on offer and can be bought in multipacks. That's the main idea with this one, buying in bulk leaves a lot of room for profit without having to rip off your customers. Another tip: Be careful of buying items that expire the same day such as donuts as they can end up being a complete waste of money, always try to get rid of stock at the end of the day as you can always spend what little profit you made on new items the next day.

3. eBay The great thing about this method, it requires little effort and you can get rid of some unwanted items before they lose more value. So how do you make money using eBay? The way I see it there are two methods;

You sell some stuff that you don't want, and make money until you run out of stuff

You get serious about making money and you start taking risks. So how do you go about doing this?

2. Well first of all you'll need some start up cash (this can be obtained by Method 1 or any other way. Once you have about 30 you start going around shops looking for deals (wholesale shops such as Costco are great). Anything you think could sell, you buy it (warning: to minimise risk check how much the item your thinking of selling goes for on eBay). You can start of small, for example buying Blu-ray DVDs or friend's old phones and selling them on eBay for a profit. Once you start making good money you can start buying bigger items such as game consoles, laptops or TVs (tip: for big electronic goods, you can often find good deals in second hand games shops or refurbished computer stores).
