Next, you need to get visitor insurance. This is very important because anything can happen during your trip. Your baggage can get lost, your flight can get cancelled, or you can get sick while trying exotic food from the street vendor. If you're not properly insured, you can end up spending a lot of money on medications and hospitalization. Make sure that when you avail travel insurance, you are fully protected. Get one that comes with trip cancellation, baggage loss, and evacuation insurance apart from the normal coverage of health policies. Medical evacuation insurance pays for the expenses of emergency evacuation in case the place of your vacation is not equipped with medical facilities to treat your condition.
Cash, credit cards and traveler's checks
Since you need to spend money during your vacation, you also need to plan how you're going to pay for your expenses. You can always use cash. Get the foreign currency at the airport or from a reputable money changer. You may also use credit cards or traveler's checks. The credit cards are more convenient but they charge a fee for every transaction.
Medications and prescriptions
If you have a medical condition, it's imperative that you prepare your medications in advance. Bring sufficient amount even if you think this would be available in your destination, as there might be a chance that it may not be. Even if you're bringing complete amount of medication, be sure to bring the prescription as well just to be sure.
Personal belongings
