The Statistics Of Job Hunting

Many people are dismayed when they find out they need to start looking for work again

. Maybe they've been recently laid off, or maybe their contract is up, or maybe even they've recently graduated from college or some kind of trade school, and they are ready to start earning some money. Then they send out a couple resumes, and don't hear much back. Or maybe they get a phone call, and it doesn't lead anywhere. This can get depressing in a hurry, as the days turn into weeks, and the weeks turn into months. Nobody wants to think beyond that level.

When you step back and look at the big picture, it starts to make sense. You'll understand why things are the way they are. Not only that, but you'll be able to develop a strategy that will help you get a better job than you thought possible. While this won't happen overnight, it will be much quicker, and you'll be more likely to get a higher paying job that is closer to your skill set.

The first thing you'll need to keep in mind that job hunting is purely a numbers game. If you find the perfect job, and send out one resume, you aren't likely going to have much luck. For any given job, the hiring manager will receive anywhere between a couple hundred and a couple thousand resumes. So if you are only sending out one resume a week, it's going to take a long time to get hired.

Instead, you should send out as many resumes as you can. Shoot for ten or more a day. Even if you send out a couple of resumes to each job, don't worry. Two identical resumes out of a couple hundred is nothing to worry about. The Statistics Of Job Hunting

Another thing you should consider is applying for jobs that you think are beneath you, or that you might not even be qualified for. This will help in two ways. One is that you will get practice giving good interviews. This will help out a lot when you've got those interviews that are really worth something.

This will also help because you are bound to get a couple offers. By getting and turning down offers, you will drastically improve your self confidence. And you'll go from being desperate for a job, to sorting through the available jobs until you find something you like. This is a much better position to be in.

When you keep this ideas in mind, it will be much easier for you to get that job you want. Just keep firing out those resumes, and go to as many interviews as possible. You'll be making money in no time.
