For a young child, entering the kindergarten stage of schooling is an all new chapter in his educational journey
. It is basically a school or class for young children between the ages of four and six years. It is a little more advanced than play school. It teaches children how to write their name, read, write etc. Originally, the word kindergarten comes from the German language, meaning a childrens garden. It is the type of school wherein the children get their first experience of education. It is the next level of education after the preschool level and it is extremely important in a childs life.The kindergarten stage of schooling plays a significant role in a childs life because it helps in the development of his mind. At this stage, a child learns the basics of almost all the basic subjects. This means the basics in math, science, reading, writing, social studies, and more. In many places, the kindergarten level of schooling isnt considered essential and the students are directly admitted to grade 1 after preschool. In such a case, the child might be prepared for grade 1 but he may still lack behind. Herein lays the importance of the kindergarten level. It strengthens the basic knowledge of the child and helps him to have a strong educational base.
The Kindergarten level introduces a child to all the basic concepts and all the other things that he is required to know before entering the formal school. At this level, all the things that a child learns at play school get revised and recollected. Kindergarten or K.G., as it is popularly known as, is the foundation stone of the education of children. Children get to know how to read, write etc. at this level which, thus, helps him further in his life.
When a child reaches playschool, he/she is very conscious of his new environment and is not much comfortable with the idea of staying away from home with absolute strangers. They are hesitant to make friends and take a lot of time to adjust with their surroundings. But as a child enters the next level of his schooling, i.e., kindergarten, he starts to enjoy his time at school and learns how to communicate with people. They meet new friends and enjoy the activities at school even more. The development of these communication skills is really important because they help to boost the childs confidence levels. They learn to express themselves and also learn to share and be nice to others. The children, who develop good communication skills at this level, are benefitted by these skills throughout their lives.
Another important reason why kindergarten is an important stage of schooling is that it allows the child to become accustomed to the environment of the school. Children learn to attend school regularly so, they get habitual to school. This in turn helps them in the long run, because they become comfortable with the fact of going to school regularly.
These are just few of the many things that make kindergarten an important stage in childs life. Thus, the parents must take this stage of schooling seriously & mustnt skip it at all. But still parents must not view kindergarten as a huge leap in the academic career of their child. It is just another stage in a childs schooling which basically helps to make his base firm and strong. The teachers teach loads of things to the students. The children learn sharing and also learn to do things on their own.
Thus, the parents must understand the significance of the kindergarten stage of schooling. They should not skip it as it is essentially required for adequate growth of the childs mind. It slowly and steadily nurtures their brains. Also the things and habits that the kids learn at this level help them in future.
