Gangtok
Gangtok is the capital city of Sikkim and one of the must visit places during a tour to Sikkim. There are a number of attraction places in and around Gangtok which attract a large number of visitors every year.
Hanuman Tok Temple
Hanuman Tok temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is located on a hillock in Gangtok. One can also have the mesmerizing view of the snow capped Kanchenjunga mountains.
Fambong La Wildlife Sanctuary
It is located at a distance of 20 km from Gangtok and is one of the best place in this hilly state to spot the wild animals engaged in their natural activities. Some of rare species of wild animals can be spotted here like Himalayan Black Bear, Civet Cat Binturong, Red Panda, Bear-Cat etc.
Tsomgo Lake
Tsomgo or Changu Lake is one of the beautiful lakes in India, which is located near to India-China international border and at a distance of 35 km from Gangtok. There is a small temple of Lord Shiva on one side of the lake. It gets freezed in the winters and special permit is required to visit this region.
Tashi View Point
Tashi View Point is located at a distance of 4 km from Gangtok. Visitors can get the full view of Kanchenjunga mountains from this point. The park near to Tashi View Point is also a famous picnic spot in Gangtok.
Rumtek Monastery
It is one of the famous Buddhist monasteries in India located in the lofty mountains of Gangtok. It is also known by the name of Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre, which was built in 16th century. It is located at a 24 km from Gangtok.
Tendong Hill
Tendong Hill is one of the famous view point in Souther part of Sikkim located at a height of 8,530 feet. It is a picturesque hill covered with evergreen pine tree dense forests. From here one can see the plains of Bengal. It is one of the favorite trekking destinations in Sikkim.
