Personal Trainers Help You Get In Shape Easily

If lifting weights and doing cardio was fun, everyone would be in great shape

. There would be no need for New Year's resolutions, crazy diets, or all of the ridiculous fitness equipment sold on late-night infomercials. Let's face it, for the average working American, it's a challenge to gather the motivation and discipline to exercise regularly. Hiring a personal trainer is a fantastic way to keep yourself on track to get in shape.

There's a lot of crazy information in the fitness industry; you never know what you can rely on. It's difficult to know what road to take because so much of the information and exercise gospel changes from year to year. This makes the process of getting in shape easy to over-think, especially when the trendy new diet turns out to be terrible for your body and mind.

Here's the bottom line: hard work is far more important that consuming a bunch of nonsensical information. Getting in shape is not easy, you're going to have to work hard and sweat quite a bit. A personal trainer is a great way to achieve your goals, and to make the process of getting in shape as awesome as possible.

Part of having a personal trainer is accountability. Once you have picked up the phone and scheduled an appointment, it's much tougher to make excuses that let you off the hook. I've said it to myself a thousand times: "I'll work out in a half hour... I just want to watch the end of this show." Unfortunately, interesting shows aren't hard to find, and a half hour usually drags on for much longer.

After an episode of House and maybe even some Spongebob, I decide that, "I should just do it tomorrow." This is another phrase that echoes in the minds of lazy exercisers with good intentions. A personal trainer is a valuable asset because he or she will keep you accountable for the workout you decided that you should undertake. When someone else is waiting for you to show up and get to work, skipping that workout seems much less appealing.

Personal training is a great way to continue to learn about exercise. If a personal trainer keeps challenging you with new techniques, you're going to learn a lot about exercise and you will stay engaged. Let's face it, to get the results that you want, you will probably need to exercise on your own... at least some of the time. Training is expensive; most people can't afford to work out only with their trainer.

It is up to a personal trainer to teach you what you should be doing on your own free time. If you've learned from your trainer and retained some knowledge, it's going to be much easier for you to maintain what you've worked for.

I love this quote: "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. Passing along exercise knowledge is like a lesson on how to catch some really healthy fish.

As a trainer, it's my job to understand the mindset of my trainees. Unless you're super human, you're not going to perform your best all of the time. It's difficult to maintain complete unwavering motivation. Sometimes my trainees get frustrated when they hit a plateau and their results stall. Part of being a good personal trainer is to know how to reach your trainee and pick them up from time to time. A lot of this just has to do with compassion and understanding.

When a trainee is serious about working out, they want to perform well! If they happen to be tired, or their body is just not behaving in the way that they want, sometimes it just helps to know that I've been there before. I've had days when I walked in the gym with high hopes and fell flat on my face. I've even had days when I walked in the gym, turned around, and walked right back out. Sometimes it helps one of my students understand that we're all human, and no one is 100 percent all of the time. Understanding can help make a trainer great.

Finally, a good personal trainer can push you harder than you push yourself. When you're working out by yourself and you're already a little tired, it's easy walk away early. Again, accountability comes into play when hiring a trainer. If you pay for an hour, you're not going to be likely to leave 30 minutes early.

A good personal trainer is going to make you WANT to work through whatever you're facing. You might end up pushing through a burn that you didn't know you could handle. The best trainers will always make you inspired to work hard. They make the process of getting in shape seems far less intimidating. You might find that it can actually be a lot of fun with the right people around you!
