NFL Week 16: Cowboys vs Cardinals Odds - Christmas Day

When the NFL released the 2010 schedule last spring it was hoped that the Christmas Night special between the Dallas Cowboys vs Arizona Cardinals would have plenty of playoff implications but that is not at all the case as the two last place teams will hook up in Arizona on Saturday night for a game that can be seen on NFL Network at 7:35pm EST. Online sportsbooks have opened with Dallas as a 7-point favorite in NFL predictions for the Christmas night match-up vs Arizona with an over/under betting total of 45. Sportsbooks also favor the Cowboys -290 in money line NFL odds for week 16 vs the Cardinals +245 for Saturday's game.

Dallas does seem to have something to play for in NFL week 16 odds as interim head coach Jason Garrett is doing his best to earn the full time gig. Dallas has paid out in NFL predictions for 5 of the 6 games that Garrett has coached while winning 4 of them straight up. Last week the Cowboys scored a 33-30 win over Washington although they failed to cover the spread as 9.5-point favorites in NFL odds. The Cowboys went over the total for the 12th time in 14 games and for the 9th consecutive game. Dallas ranks 7th in scoring offense but next to last in scoring defense. Tony Romo is out for the year at QB but Jon Kitna has improved under Garrett and has a 91.4 QB rating with a 15/10 TD/INT ratio.

Arizona now stands at 4-10 both straight up and against the spread in NFL predictions with 8 of their games going OVER the total. The Cardinals were a playoff team last year and a Super Bowl team in 2008 but the retirement of future Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner has proven to be too much to overcome. The release of Matt Leinart right before the season started, now looks to have been a bad and hasty move as the Cardinals rank next to last in passing with 3 different QB's seeing action. If there is a positive note for Arizona heading into NFL week 16 odds as touchdown underdogs at home, it is that the Cardinals are 5-1 vs the Cowboys for their last six games at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
