In the past, receiving a crown was a more drawn-out process. During the first appointment, the dentist would reduce the affected tooth and take an impression of the area, which would then be sent to a dental lab. After about two to three weeks of wearing a temporary crown, the dentist would then attach the permanent crown once it arrives from the dental lab.
By using CAD/CAM for crowns, the Mobile cosmetic dentist is able to take a digital impression of the area in order to create a digital 3-D model of the restoration. The digital model will then be used to create the crown on-site in Dr. Southall's office.
