Iit-jee Is Not Be All And End All Of Life

Thousands of students give the IIT-JEE test every year

. Only a small percentage of them are able to actually get through these exams. There is no need to feel disheartened. It you have prepared yourself so painstakingly for the IIT-JEE. You are also well prepared to give other engineering exams such as the AIEEE, BISAT, VITEEE, AMU, IP University CET at the National level. The interesting part is that though the syllabus for these exams is more or less the same yet they are not as different or tough as the IIT-JEE exams. Further there are also state level exams such as the UPSEE, EAMCET, KCET, BCECE, RCET, Kerela CET, WB JEE, Orissa JEE etc.

A student who thinks himself capable of attempting the IIT-JEE papers has obviously a lot of faith and confidence in his own abilities. But remember that the other engineering entrance exams are not a cake walk either. The best of the students (the toppers of IIT-JEE) also appear in atleast 3-4 other good engineering entrance exams. After passing these exams you can get admission to some of the best Engineering colleges in India. These are the 26 National Institute of Technologies (NIT's), BITS Pilani, NSIT (New Delhi), DTU (New Delhi), Punjab Engineering College, Vellore Institute of Technology, Aligarh Muslim University, BIT Mesra Ranchi, HBTI Kanpur etc. An engineering graduate from any of these colleges is eligible for placement in some of the best companies in the world. A lot of companies that visit the IIT's visit a lot of these colleges.

Further remember that it is not just a degree on a piece of paper that is going to take you places. The skills you have acquired here will just help you to get a job. But it is the application of these skills and the ability to learn further that will help you to keep the job. We have seen a lot of successful entrepreneurs and Business executives from many colleges apart from the IIT's. A degree from any of these colleges is not less than a degree from the IIT's. In fact some of these colleges are considered more prestigious than some of the IIT's.

Today, the Indian economy is booming. By the year 2015 there will be three million jobs in the IT sector alone. There is need for both skilled and semi-skilled hands. IIT degrees are not the be all and end all of a career in the industry. A pertinent point to be noted is that as India move onwards to the 22nd century there will be a tremendous demand for semi-skilled hands. That is to say that even Diploma holders will get high flying jobs not only in India but all over the world. Jobs are available in plenty. Be patient, methodical, organised. Work hard, have faith, be positive, and above all TAKE ONE STEP AT A TIME. Remember

"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will." Vincent T. Lombardi
