Home Owners Insurance Saved The Day!

Home Owners Insurance Saved The Day!

Home Owners Insurance. If any of you have ever owned your own home, you'll know about Home Owners Insurance. It is to protect us from unforeseen accidents and incidents as owners of our homes. If we search different insurance companies we can usually find an affordable policy on a month to month coverage if we combine auto insurance, and life insurance along with our home owners insurance. Be sure to look around at your options and get plenty of insurance quotes so you can compare and save and get the best coverage as owners. We just set ours up online, super easy.

My experience with home owners insurance has been pleasant enough. In the past we've never had any issues to need to use our coverage but that all changed about 5 months ago. It was Christmas day and we were leaving our house to visit our families and exchange gifts. We noticed some water dripping out of our light bulb in our garage. My husband luckily saw it or I probably would have been oblivious to the situation.

We figured out the water had leaked through our bathroom upstairs through the floor into the garage and was finding an 'escape route' through the light bulb. I am so glad we have home owners insurance and good coverage to protect us from situations like these. We weren't sure what was covered in our policy since we basically just pay month to month for our home owners insurance since we know it's what we are supposed to do.

We called our home owners insurance to see what our options were and they sent out a gentleman to assess the damage and see what would be covered in our policy. He took pictures and even had a water flow finder that could scan where the majority of the water was coming from and what direction it flowed. He went out to his car to figure out if this would be protected in our coverage. We sat there crossing our fingers until he came back and told us...Home Owners Insurance Saved The Day!

It was covered!!

He came up with a bid of what it would cost us to get the bathroom fixed. We would have to replace the flooring, bathtub/shower combo, quite a bit of sheet rock and paint. He told us we could even fix it ourselves if we wanted to save money over asking any professional companies to do the work for us. We are pretty busy and my husband wasn't sure what to do but it was much more affordable for us to do the work ourselves. We could 'pocket' the extra money and all would be well!

It's been harder than we imagined, finding the exact size of bathtub to fit in the bathroom, picking tile to match what we already have, there are so many options for everything. One thing we know for sure, is that home owners insurance saved the day! But guess what? We're still not done fixing our bathroom. Home Owners Insurance.
